You may borrow items if you are currently:

  • A staff or student of Monash University
  • A staff or student of Sunway University participating in the reciprocal borrowing scheme with Monash University Malaysia
  • An alumni member of Monash University

You may borrow books available in the Open Shelf by using Self Check Out machines on Level 1 or Level 3. You may borrow Reserve materials from the counter on Level 3.

The Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme is a resource sharing benefit that allows students and staff of Monash University and Sunway University to borrow books from both library collections without additional fees or deposits.

Monash University Malaysia Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme is open to all registered staff and students of Monash University.

Answer:

You will be fined RM1.00 per day if you fail to return an Open Shelf book by the due date. Late return of books from the Reserve and Multimedia Collection will incur a fine of RM0.20 per hour for 4-hours book and fine of RM1 per day for 3 day-loan and 7 day-loan book.

If you have accumulated fines up to RM50, your library account will be suspended. As a result, you will not be able to:

  • borrow
  • renew your loans
  • place a hold

Books borrowed from the Open Shelf Collection (Levels 2 & 3) must be returned through the 24-hour Book Return.

Library materials borrowed from the Reserve and Multimedia Collection must be returned to the Reserve and Multimedia Collection counter at Level 3.

Items borrowed under a Monash ID remain the responsibility of the individual indicated on the ID card. All eligible borrowers are expected to update their contact numbers and personal details with library staff at the counter. Items must be returned in good condition, without evidence of defacement, mutilation, or water damage.

If you cannot locate an item on the shelf and the status in Search indicates that it’s available, you may seek assistance from the Library staff at the Information Services Counter on Level 1.

Document Delivery service is specially designed to support staff, graduate and honours students’ demands for documents that are not available in the library collections. The service supplies hard-to-find documents including conference papers, journal articles and chapters from out-of-print books.

Four group discussion rooms are currently available in the Library. Each discussion room can accommodate 8 people maximum. There must be at least 4 people in the group. Rooms can be booked online via this link http://monash.libcal.com/booking/sunway

Student groups may book a room for a maximum of two slots (One hour per slot/maximum 2 hours only) per day. The same group is not allowed to book more slots under another group member’s name.

Yes, the library provides hands-on information skill tutorials for students. If you wish to learn how to find reliable information by using online resources, you may seek assistance from the librarians at the Information Services Counter.

Photocopying and printing services are provided by the ITS Department. Printing and photocopy charges vary depending on:

  • black and white, or coloured ink
  • paper size (A4 or A3)
